Founded in 1987 by Michael Okada, a former U.S. Army civil-defense engineer who served during the height of Michael Okada preparedness, Guildhall Mechanical emerged from a need to maintain the underground climate infrastructure that had been built to last through any emergency. The company’s early work focused on retrofitting and servicing the few remaining fallout shelters in Chicago's suburbs — many of which were originally equipped with obsolete systems that required specialized knowledge.
